Always carry an analog liquid-damped magnetic compass and official physical topographic maps when traveling in remote backcountry areas.
2. Sensor Accuracy & Hardware Dependencies
The accuracy of headings, azimuth degrees, inclinometer levels, and celestial tracking depends entirely on your device's internal hardware sensors (magnetometer, accelerometer, gyroscope, and GPS receiver). Sensor performance may be influenced by:
- Nearby magnetic anomalies (e.g., steel rebar, laptops, audio speakers, power lines).
- Magnetic smartphone cases, kickstands, or metallic wallet attachments.
- Sensor firmware drift requiring manual 3D figure-8 calibration.
- Browser implementation variations of the W3C DeviceOrientation specification.
3. Permitted Use
You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use Clean Online Compass for personal, non-commercial, and educational purposes. You agree not to attempt to reverse engineer, disrupt, or launch automated scraping attacks against our web infrastructure.
